Uganda is an excellent location for coffee growing and has long been famous for its robusta crop, an indigenous species that still grows wild in the country’s rainforests. Yet you’ll also find high quality arabicas, like this one, growing in three regions: Mount Elgon in the east, the Rwenzori Mountains in the southwest, and West Nile in the northwest. Each origin is unique, with different coffee profiles and production methods.

This one is exceptional; heavy bodied with balanced sweetness and low acidity.

It comes from select high-elevation grower communities in the West Nile region. More specifically, Uganda’s Zombo District, near where the White Nile River meets Lake Albert in Uganda’s northwest, along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The farms are between 1,500 and 1,700 masl with indigenous vegetation, such as the banyan tree, used as shade.

These are multi-generational farms where the richly fertile land, volcanic soil and abundant rainfall are a blessing to the industry; however, these farming communities were nearly erased due to the region’s brutal armed conflict of the past decades.

We're lucky to be able to support these grower communities in Uganda’s northwestern highlands, and we’re thrilled to share their delicious coffee with you all.
